Galway City Community Network is the Public Participation Network in Galway City and is the is the best way your group or community can have a voice in shaping the future of Galway City. GCCN membership conveys a number of important advantages to your group such as:
GCCN is the main mechanism for selecting community, voluntary and environmental representatives to a range of structures such as the Local Community Development Committee, Strategic Policy Committees (SPCs) and other bodies such as Galway City Partnership and the Galway Joint Policing Committee. These representative forums develop and implement the policies that shape our City.
GCCN provides important networking opportunities at the Plenary Meetings, the meetings of the Linkage Groups and at the thematic meetings that it regularly organises.
GCCN members have many shared experiences and support and learn from each other in many ways.
GCCN is required to represent the interests of communities in Galway on a range of issues. It does this by establishing policies on these issues. GCCN members are encouraged to identify issues that require policy development and to contribute to this development.
GCCN strives to ensure that members are up to date with local and national developments in the community, voluntary and environmental sectors. Members receive regular bulletins and emails informing them about issues of interest.
GCCN organises a number of thematic sessions, workshops and seminars every year on issues of interest to GCCN members.
