Public Consultation

The Public Consultation for The Sandy Quarter Project is currently open. It runs for six weeks, from April 3rd to May 12th, 2023. The Land Development Agency (LDA) welcomes the views of all interested parties, locals and stakeholders, on the Spatial Framework for The Sandy Quarter.


GCCN will hold a consultation meeting around this in the coming days to develop a submission in collaboration with all GCCN members.

The Sandy Quarter is an exciting new development project that aims to transform the heart of Galway. It is a mixed-use development that will include new homes, an urban park, commercial and community space. The project is being developed by the LDA, a state agency responsible for unlocking the potential of underutilized state lands.

During the six-week consultation period, the LDA is inviting all interested parties to share their views. This is an opportunity for the community to have their say on the development of The Sandy Quarter.

In addition to the email consultation, the LDA will be holding a Public Drop-in Clinic at Maldron Hotel Sandy Road. The clinic is an opportunity for members of the public to speak directly with members of the LDA team about the project.
